Elite Welding & Fabrication: The Missouri City Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Elite-compatible welding and fabrication components for gate systems across Missouri City, with most welded repairs and bracket replacements running between $180 and $650 installed, depending on the part and whether the gate needs to come off its hinges to do the work right. Most Elite welding failures we see are on swing gates, where the actuator bracket tears away from the gate frame or a hinge weld cracks under years of Texas heat cycling and wind load. When an owner calls us, it’s usually because the gate still runs but sags, scrapes, or makes a metallic pop on every cycle, or because the motor is running but the gate barely moves.
This is the page for Missouri City homeowners who already know their Elite system has a structural problem, not an electrical one. If your gate post is solid, your operator runs, and your gate still drags or twists, you’re in the right place.
Which Elite Models This Applies To
Elite gate operators are common in Missouri City subdivisions, and the welding failures we see are almost identical across the SL3000, SL6000, and CSW200 swing-gate lines, plus the heavier CSL series used on some driveway gates in Sienna Plantation and Riverstone. The part that fails first is rarely the operator itself. It’s the mounting hardware: the steel bracket that ties the actuator arm to the gate frame, or the weld where that bracket was originally attached.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha most people don’t realize until they’re staring at a broken bracket: Elite changed arm bracket geometry between their older AC-powered swing operators and the newer DC-powered residential units. A bracket that fits an SL3000 from 2015 will not always line up with a current EL-25 or EL-35 arm. We measure the bolt spread and the arm pivot height before ordering or fabricating anything. The wrong bracket will bind, tear at the welds again within a season, or throw the gate’s travel arc off enough to destroy a hinge.
For OEM versus aftermarket: for Elite electronics, we insist on OEM or name-brand equivalent parts. For steel fabrication, brackets, and weld repairs, we’ll fabricate in-house when that’s the stronger fix. A hand-cut and TIG-welded bracket from 3/16-inch steel outlasts the factory stamping in most Missouri City installations, because the factory part was designed for a different climate. More on that below.
Signs Your Elite Welding & Fabrication Is Failing

- The gate sags toward the latch side when it’s half open. This almost always means a hinge weld is cracking, not a hinge bolt loosening. The crack opens when the gate is mid-arc and closes when it’s seated, so it’s easy to miss until the gate starts dragging.
- You hear a metallic pop during the first two seconds of travel. The actuator bracket is flexing against a partially torn weld. The pop is the steel snapping back into place as the load shifts. It will get worse, not better.
- The operator runs smooth, but the gate shakes or jerks at a specific point in its swing. That’s the classic sign of a hinge pin binding because the gate frame twisted after a weld failed. The motor is fighting geometry now, and it’s shortening its own lifespan.
- Fresh paint keeps cracking in a line near a hinge or bracket. A cracked weld flexes just enough to break paint along the fault line. If you scraped it off, you’d see the hairline crack in the steel underneath.
- The gate was hit by wind or a car and now the closed position is off by an inch or two. Impact damage bends one component and the weld holds, or it breaks the weld and the steel stays straight. Wrong-closed position after an impact usually means a torn weld, and the fix is re-welding plus re-alignment, not just bending something back.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Missouri City, most Elite welding and fabrication repairs we do land in the $180 to $650 range, and the written price you get before we start already includes labor, materials, and the documentation. A small hinge crack that can be welded in place with the gate hung might run $180 to $260. A torn actuator bracket that needs fabrication and re-alignment of the arm geometry typically runs $280 to $450. If a gate has to come off, get stripped, re-welded in multiple spots, and re-hung, that’s the $500 to $650 range.
You’re never paying us to discover the problem. The price is written and handed over before any work starts, under Haven Standard Clause 1. What drives the range is whether we can work with the gate standing and whether the damaged piece can be salvaged or has to be remade. Every job ends with a photo record of the weld before painting, after painting, and the finished gate in motion. If a part number was used, that’s in the record too.
Every welded repair falls under the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If a weld we made fails within a year, we re-weld it or rebuild the bracket at no charge. No argument, no fee.
DIY or Call Us?

Welding a gate bracket in your driveway without training is not a homeowner project. The gate weighs three hundred pounds or more, the spring tension is still live when the operator’s disconnected, and a weld that looks solid but lacks penetration will fail catastrophically, usually while someone’s car or kid is underneath it. We say that without drama, because we’ve re-welded enough DIY beads in Missouri City to know what they cost: the homeowner pays twice, once for the materials, then again for us to cut out the bad weld and start over.
What you can safely check: measure the gap between the gate and the post when it’s open versus closed. Photograph the bracket area from three angles. If the gate has visible cracks near hinges or the actuator arm mount, stop using it and call (346) 253-1761. We’ll schedule a Missouri City visit, write the price before the first tool comes out, and you’ll have the photo record in your hand when we leave.
FAQs
A proper weld on clean steel lasts 15 to 20 years, even through Missouri City’s humidity and summer heat cycles. Most factory welds in this area fail sooner than that, typically at the 7-to-10-year mark, because Texas wind loads and temperature swings flex the steel more than the original design accounted for. Call (346) 253-1761 if your gate’s welds are aging out.
It depends on where the crack sits and how far it’s propagated. A short crack at the edge of a bracket can often be ground out and re-welded stronger than new. A crack running through the pivot hole means bracket replacement or custom fabrication. We’ll tell you which when we see it, and the recommendation is part of the written price.
Most bracket and hinge weld repairs take two to four hours on site, including cool-down and painting. If fabrication is needed, we build the part in our shop and return for installation, usually within one to two business days, depending on material availability.
We stock common Elite bracket sizes and arm hardware on the truck, plus plate steel for fabricating custom brackets in-house. If your Elite model needs a bracket we don’t carry, we can typically have the correct OEM part within two business days. We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with Elite, and we keep parts for LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and Ghost Controls systems on hand as well.
Name what you found. Name what it costs. Name what you left behind. That’s the job.
