Signs Your FAAC Welding & Fabrication Is Failing

• The gate leaf sags 2 inches or more at the latch end. On a FAAC swing system, this almost always traces back to a hinge weld stretching or a fabricated hinge plate pulling away from the post. The operator keeps compensating until it can’t, and then the leaf scrapes the driveway.
• The operator post flexes visibly when the gate cycles. A FAAC 750 or E024U pushes hard on its mounting base. When the base plate or post-to-bracket welds crack, the whole operator rocks, and the limit switches start drifting because the mechanical reference point is moving.

• The gate jumps or binds at one consistent point in its travel. On slide gates, a fractured trolley bracket or a cracked guide-roller mount will catch the chain or rack teeth at the same spot every pass. FAAC slide operators have enough torque to keep pushing, which is exactly how a small crack becomes a torn-out section of rail.

Here’s the split as plainly as we can put it. You can safely check for visible cracks, wiggle the gate leaf by hand to feel for play at the hinge points, and take photos of what you find. A visual inspection with a flashlight costs nothing and helps you describe the problem accurately when you call. What you should not do is run a weld bead on a loaded gate hinge, an operator post, or any bracket that holds a moving gate leaf. A bad weld on load-bearing gate hardware doesn’t fail gracefully. It fails suddenly, and a several-hundred-pound gate leaf coming off its hinges is a serious hazard. The same goes for any FAAC component holding spring or hydraulic tension.
